  • The Spirit Of Zakat

An obligation to help those in need as a form of purification of one’s wealth

Zakat is an obligation upon every eligible Muslim whose wealth reaches the Nisab threshold. By giving 2.5% of one’s qualifying wealth, Muslims fulfil one of the fundamental pillars of Islam and support those in need.

The word Zakah means purification, growth, and blessing. Through Zakat, our wealth is purified, compassion is encouraged, and support is provided to those who are less fortunate. It reminds us that our wealth is a trust from Allah and should be shared with those who have a right over it.

“My Mercy extends to all things. That (Mercy) I shall ordain for those who have God consciousness and give their Zakat and those who believe in Our Signs.”

Surah Al-A’raf 7:156
  • The Impact of Your Zakat

Transforming Lives Through Giving

At Al-Fikr, your Zakat has the power to transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Your donations help provide essential support, including food, clean water, healthcare, and care for orphans. By sponsoring an orphan, you offer hope, stability, and opportunities that enable children to grow, thrive, and build a brighter future.

At Al-Fikr, we are committed to making your Zakat go even further. Beyond meeting immediate needs, we work to help families achieve long-term stability by breaking the cycle of poverty. Through sustainable livelihood and income-generation projects, we empower individuals and communities to become more self-reliant.

Your Zakat also helps us build safe and secure homes for families who are eligible to receive Zakat. In many rural communities, millions of people live below the poverty line in unsafe and inadequate shelters, often constructed from scraps of material or temporary structures. Without proper housing, families face increased risks to their health, safety, and well-being, while poor living conditions contribute to the spread of disease.

By building homes for vulnerable families—particularly widows and their children—we provide security, dignity, and stability, creating a healthier environment where families can rebuild their lives with hope and confidence.
